This is What I’ve Always Wanted

My photo gallery is now completely integrated with my blog system. Thanks to the WPG2 plugin, as well as a few hours of testing and supplemental coding, the gallery is now seamlessly interwoven with the main site. This really is the most fantastic thing ever. I absolutely love it. My laundry list of things I want to do on my website is waning, and I think it is getting to be pretty cool. Now I just need to get my photo gallery updated, and I want to have the “random picture” feature of the photo gallery section to be on the rest of the site as well. After that, who knows? After all this time, I am finally at the point where I am happy with where things are at on here and I can begin thinking about new content and features. These are good days for JoeDonahue.org. The next big thing will be setting up a convenient way to put pictures into my blog entries, which should be really straightforward.
Last night was a fun-packed night of setting off the firealarm again. I hate that. And the flue was open correctly this time – Now I have to go to the main office and be like “What the heck?” – I am pretty sure that will compel them into action. It was Halloween, and we only had 1 group of kids stop by our door! We heard from someone that we should expect a lot, but that definitely did not happen. Needless to say, we have a mountain of candy leftover, and so whoever is in the area, stop on by and pick some up.
The rest of this week consists of finishing up papers and doing schoolwork, as well as continuing to get my jobs done here at work. Today I sent out to everyone in IS the ‘minutes’ that I took from our last staff meeting. It included such necessary notes as when I ate fig newtons, and when my fig newtons were gone. Adam made a quip about ‘geek bling’ which, needless to say, made it in, as well as the highlights of our discussion on the masculinity of pink shirts. In reply to the minutes, my esteemed co-worker Scott Lee said,

That was excellent. Next time put in PDF format, you know, to make it look more professional. If you do that, Mark will be like, “look at that guy, he’s on the ball. I wish all my other developers were like him.” It’d be good for your rep.

I’m pretty sure he’s right. Kindra confirmed this by telling me that the moment she met me, she realized that she wanted to be more like me. I thought this was nice, until I realized the heavy sarcasm.

  1. You used my name without permission. Great…now I’ll have some complete stranger show up at my door step with a disgruntled look on his face. He’ll simply say one thing, “You Scott Lee?” Yep. “You’re not funny.” I know. “Oh.” It’s at this point he’ll start crying and I’ll have to rock him to sleep in my loving arms of compassion while picking the crumbs from his beard. Thanks a lot Joe…thanks a lot.

    Postscript:
    Sarcasm is my best friend.

  2. You gave me permission when you talked to me. The fine print that exists at the bottom of every conversation I have (verbal or otherwise) states the following:
I, by engaging in discussion with Joe, hereby approve the use of anything included in said discussion for quotation on JoeDonahue.org.

You must just have missed it.

  3. No kidding, I’m going to need to start carrying arround my Pocket Cone of Silence (TM).

  4. If I had a nickel for every time I said something that Joe quoted in an away message, I’d be broke, but I’d have a lot of nickels.
