Meet Amelia.

Long awaited, much anticipated. At 10:43am on June 4th, little Amelia Kathryn finally came out and joined us. Julie did go through with a C-section due to “macrosomia” – large baby syndrome 🙂 but we were surprised to find her weigh in at 8lbs, 4ozs and 20 inches long. I had the joy of being in the O.R. with Julie, mostly due to the awesome white jump suit I got to wear.

All 3 of us are doing very well. Amelia is already acing her tests, as she scored a 9 – 10 on the APGAR scale, an initial assessment of baby’s health in respect to things like skin color and breathing. The operation itself only took about 10 or 15 minutes, but it took another 45 to put Julie back together and then she had to spend an hour in a recovery room. Julie had been feeling nauseous and had some trouble keeping fluids down, but after some meds she was able to eat a popsicle and some crackers. About 6 last night she was finally able to eat some real food. We will be in the hospital until Thursday, but until then, at least the hospital has complimentary soda and wi-fi!

  1. Joe and Julie, I would just like to state for the record that Pete and I think Amelia DEFINITELY looks like both of you. She’s definitely your baby, in case you were afraid she’d gotten switched or something. You two are going to have a blast taking her home!
    we love you guys!

  2. Hi Joe and Julie 🙂

Oh my Goodnessssssssssssssss! She’s sooooooooooo sooooooooooo soooooo beautiful! I got all weepy (surprise! Not) when looking at the photos and seeing all the happiness. I sure feel old now – LOL – seems like just yesterday you were that size. I’m so happy for you and Julie. I can’t wait to meet little Amelia and I love the name. Enjoy these times when she’s so tiny, and when you put her down she stays where you left her – that won’t last long – trust me.

    Love you!!!

    Great Auntie Maya xxxx

  3. It was so exciting to come to the hospital today to meet Amelia, although she kept trying to nurse from my arm!! You both should be very proud parents. And Joe….you need to figure out a way that you will wake up when Amelia cries during the night so that Julie can get a little sleep! I told her she may have to start placing things on the little table by her bed to throw at you in the middle of the night to wake you up : ) Steve is anxious to meet Amelia for himself sometime next week (after you get settled back at home)! Congratuations again!!!!
