Canoe Trip and… Summer.
We got a late start on Friday, not even leaving until after 7pm. It was pretty much a straight shot south on 71 to Pineville, MO, where the camp is. The last 8 miles of the drive was on a winding road in the middle of nowhere, with no lights, and with two cars right up my butt the whole time. Good times. Upon arriving, a tent had already been set up for us, complete with air mattress and a little battery-powered fan! It was really awesome to not have to set that up, and the tent was huge. More than enough for the three of us Quin-ahues. (Quinlan + Donahue).
Saturday was the “float” trip, but there wasn’t much floating involved. The water was so shallow that I spent more time pushing the canoe than riding in it. Let’s just say that I may not canoe next year. I did get a couple of good sunburns out of the deal, and they are currently making my shoulders itch like crazy. Weird.
That night was spent playing frisbee, soccer, and 6-player Settlers of Catan! We got so hooked that as soon as we came home we started looking around on how to get a copy of it for ourselves, and found a cool little game shop literally right up the street from us. The “Game Cafe” had exactly what we were looking for, and we played tonight for the third night in a row.

Shouting out a loud HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Julie! Perhaps you two ought to try sailing, (with a goldfish around your neck).
