Pet Peeve #17
Averages given as ranges. For example,
The average cost of a computer is about $500 – $700.
That is not an average. Now if I had said “What is cost of a new computer within one standard deviation of the mean?” It would be a totally different story. (That was for Kindra and Brooksie). In conclusion, averages are not ranges. Please take the appropriate measures.
Thank you and good day.
Amen! Preach it!
funny, my pet peeve #17 is when someone leaves the amount of cereal that you can’t throw it away because it’s too much, but it’s too little to have a full bowl of cereal. argh!!!!!!!!!!
-in a related story, Joe, i just thought you should know that this module i’ve been in was tought by Jim Hampton, who, as it turns out, is the founder of barefoot ministries. but i’m sure you knew that.
Actually… I had no idea. I work from time to time with Jeff Edmondson (sp?) and I always assumed Barefoot was his brainchild. I have no idea who Jim Hampton-over-avon even is.
In a related story, modules are over, and I am ready for a dunkin donuts run.
