Starfarers and Red Sox
Thursday night, courtesy of Nazarene Publishing House, Julie and went to a Royals vs Red Sox game. The seats were really good, and it seemed that everyone else around us were Red Sox fans!! After spending 4 years in Boston for college, it is hard not to cheer them on. And cheer them on we did, as they lost. They lost all three games against the Royals, who are the worst team in Major League Baseball. There were a few Royals fans who brought brooms and swung them around in honor of their “Clean Sweep.” Seriously…
After playing Settlers of Catan at small group last week, the Dawson’s borrowed it and became so enamored that Tim and I went out to pick up Starfarers of Catan. Tim and I went while Julie and her sister were out shopping, and after Tim dropped me off, I realized I had locked myself out of the house! So I called Julie, and my parents, and read through our mail, and just sat on our front steps for awhile until our neighbor Jason came out. We started talking and it turns out his computer was running slow, so I got to go over and help him out with that. I also helped him move his entertainment center to the basement, as his new 50″ high-def flat-screen TV was too big for it. It was really cool to be able to spend some time with them and also help them out.
So, this is kinda funny to me. Julie, after asking me nicely for a hundred times to email our wedding photographer about the negatives, finally put her foot down and made me do it tonight. As I am looking for her website, I discover instead her husband’s website, who is a software developer! I started looking into his work, and it turns out that he works for JotSpot wikis, who I have been researching for the last two weeks as our company is searching for an enterprise wiki solution. Small world!
Do you have any birthday plans for Sunday? Wish I could drop in for tea. Oh well, I’ll fly out hopefully soon for a visit. Happy 24 Joe!
Joe… I dont know how to comment on this post specifically except to say… it’s actually a freakin’ huge world due to the length of my running accross your path inadvertantly…
…wow that tied in alot better than I thought it would. Dang my brain is awesome.
Anywho, how’s kicks? (and for that matter, punches too?)
I believe there are some plans in order for Sunday, but I do not know exactly what it is. Something that involves friends from church. Saturday will be pretty intense; It is our IS department’s Project Celebration Party. So we are going to an arena to play “Whirly Ball” where we drive around in go-karts and try to throw a ball at a target using a lacrosse stick.
DJ! Awesome to see you on here bro. I was checking out your website the other day, and it is looking great. I saw your cell # on facebook and I’ve been planning on giving you a call. Kicks and punches are great (never thought I would say that) I am just workin’ away and gearing up for my seminary classes which start next week. I am intrigued… how did you run across my path inadvertantly?
Starfarers??
How in the world was it? I am seriosly intrigued.
By the way, this is being posted from Barcelona, Spain
How about that?
That is so flippin awesome!!! That is going to look amazing on my website analytics. I will be sure to take a screen shot and post it.
Starfarers was really good, and it was surprising to me how complicated it is! We have something else to add to the list as well: Cities and Knights! It was Julie’s birthday present to me, and it is also really good. I think the coolest thing about it is a “border” that you put around the island so the pieces stay together. It’s something that can be used when playing regular Settler’s as well.
We can all sit down and play it together sometime :o)
Keep on rockin’ in the free world, Ardreys…
Ha, your red sox got pwnd by the Royals!
Pwn, not found on dictionary.com, can only be given definitive meaning from wikipedia, which was recently discovered to be about as reliable and accurate as the encyclopedia britannica, defines this as “to defeat an opponent in a video-game in a manner so harshly it is (otherwise) indescribable in words.” As the Royals played the Red Sox in real live baseball and not video game baseball, I say to you that they have not be pwned.
But yeah, it was pretty rough… and I didn’t even get any krispy kremes out of the deal.
