Re-Launching MaineNYI.com

September 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment

This week I re-launched our district NYI website, http://www.mainenyi.com.
I was actually a part of the group that first purchased the domain and brainstormed such a site.  I vividly recall pulling an all-nighter within a couple days of graduating high school, busting out code for the first iteration of this site (back in ‘01).  Since leaving [...]

I’ve Moved.

February 1st, 2008 · No Comments

That’s right, the rumors are true. I’ve moved.
Joedonahue.org has been dormant these last couple months as I have migrated my blog from one web host to another, and tonight it is finally up and running.
I’ve also stopped going to grad school full-time, quit my job, packed up everything we own, and moved 1500 [...]

Meet Amelia.

June 5th, 2007 · 6 Comments

Long awaited, much anticipated. At 10:43am on June 4th, little Amelia Kathryn finally came out and joined us. Julie did go through with a C-section due to “macrosomia” - large baby syndrome but we were surprised to find her weigh in at 8lbs, 4ozs and 20 inches long. I had the [...]

Brought to you by the number 2

May 21st, 2007 · 2 Comments

Many people celebrate “firsts” in their lives - first car, first kiss, first facebook gift, first pulled pork sandwich, etc.  Today, I celebrate with great joy the wonderful seconds in life.  This weekend was the second time I hosted a LAN Party & BBQ, and we had a really great time.  Within the last couple [...]

Speaking of drumming.
I received a call out-of-the blue from Dustin McKamie, who I met last fall when I got roped into playing drums for a production of Godspell. His band had an upcoming gig and their drummer was on [...]

Facebook Rants

February 16th, 2007 · 12 Comments

My theme for late on here has been for posting pet peeves.  It seems that blogs are good for either disseminating innovative and useful information (of which I have none) and for ranting.  So onward we go.
Facebook.  One of the more awesome things to happen on the internet in recent history, and definitely the Most [...]

Pet Peeve #17

February 1st, 2007 · 3 Comments

Averages given as ranges. For example,
The average cost of a computer is about $500 - $700.
That is not an average.  Now if I had said “What is cost of a new computer within one standard deviation of the mean?”  It would be a totally different story.  (That was for Kindra and Brooksie).  In conclusion, [...]

Flickr Integration!

December 11th, 2006 · No Comments

After accidentally installing and configuring my blog using an old version of the K2 theme (no!!) I now have the Photos tab working with the FAlbum plugin. Meaning: Flickr photos dynamically load into that page, as if being hosted right here on JoeDonahue.org. To quote Julie,
I love the internet.
Amen.
But speaking of Flickr, the [...]
