vlog 002 – The Donahues Arrive

June 19th, 2007 1 comment

Although my family has since left and (after a day of typical airport woes) arrived home in Maine, this video was shot just after they arrived. I had not seen them since Christmas and the first thing my Dad does is… take a nap. nbd.

I’ve been wanting to try some video logs or “vlogs” for a little while now, so here we go. Nothing too exciting, but you gotta start somewhere. And so do I.

Meet Amelia.

June 5th, 2007 6 comments

Long awaited, much anticipated. At 10:43am on June 4th, little Amelia Kathryn finally came out and joined us. Julie did go through with a C-section due to “macrosomia” – large baby syndrome :) but we were surprised to find her weigh in at 8lbs, 4ozs and 20 inches long. I had the joy of being in the O.R. with Julie, mostly due to the awesome white jump suit I got to wear.

All 3 of us are doing very well. Amelia is already acing her tests, as she scored a 9 – 10 on the APGAR scale, an initial assessment of baby’s health in respect to things like skin color and breathing. The operation itself only took about 10 or 15 minutes, but it took another 45 to put Julie back together and then she had to spend an hour in a recovery room. Julie had been feeling nauseous and had some trouble keeping fluids down, but after some meds she was able to eat a popsicle and some crackers. About 6 last night she was finally able to eat some real food. We will be in the hospital until Thursday, but until then, at least the hospital has complimentary soda and wi-fi!

“Our Baby Has A Birthday.”

June 2nd, 2007 4 comments

This is what Julie would say to those who she called following her final doctor’s visit last week. We were advised to proceed with a C-section, and after working through some scheduling conflicts, finally landed on Monday, June 4th. Around 10am we should have our long-awaited baby girl. We still don’t have a name for her yet, but are still expecting that she will be born with a name tag proudly announcing what her name is.
