First of all, a round of applause for all who visited YouthQuiz.com from the link in my last post. Kindra is testing out web statistics on the nph.com family of sites (there’s like… 15 or so of them) and JoeDonahue.org, as of this afternoon, was the third highest ranked source that drew visitors to YouthQuiz. It was only like < 1%, but it was still cool to see my name on the stats during developer’s meeting today.
The rumor is that tomorrow (which is really later on today) at staff meeting the Project Schedule for 2006 will finally be disclosed. I’ve watched projects from a distance, and I’m stoked to participate in one. I think I work better in a team than on my own anyway. Or maybe I just like people.
Also, I have had several days now of Bluetooth joy. Upon the purchasing of a new cell phone, I realized both Julie and I had Bluetooth wireless capability, which is used for devices to communicate with each other (as opposed to other forms of wireless designed for internet connectivity). Since Saturday I have found half a dozen people for my phone to “bond” with and share pictures, ringtones, contacts… I’d like to say the list goes on and on but really it stops right there. Still, it’s been really cool. When I was connecting to Sherwin’s phone on Monday night, I sent him a picture of my 17″ dual flat panel monitors from work, while his fiance Megan laughed at me for being so geeky. Sherwin responded by sending me a picture of his dual 19″ flat panel monitors…

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted. Most of my time spent on the website lately has been refining this theme. I don’t think I am going to stick with it much longer, but I at least want to finish it and then upload it to a WordPress Themes database and see what other people think of it. Then I can begin work on a new theme, something original that I will stick with.
Been pretty busy lately! I had a nice day off on Friday, and Julie and I went to look at another possible house. We put in our 60 day notice here, so one way or another we will be gone! Saturday night Dave and Andy came over and we watched “Wallace and Gromit.” I think I had more fun driving to Blockbuster with them than anything else, but it was good times. Sunday was mostly spent at Church, as we went to the Sunrise service and then the church breakfast. A good breakfast meal is probably my most favorite thing on the planet, and with the exception of the coffee (we had to make a QuikTrip run afterwards!) it was awesome. We went to the Ardrey’s for “Ham @ 3″ Sunday afternoon, and had another good meal and time of hanging out with friends. Action-packed weekend!
I have also started doing drumming lessons with one of the teens from our church, and it has gone really well so far! I have never worked with anyone before on anything more than absolute basics, and John has been playing for a few years now and definitely has the basics down. I am excited to discipline and train myself in some areas again, and to share from my almost 10 years of experience playing drums. 10 years! I can’t believe it’s really been so long…

End of line.

In more ways than one. Church reformation, as I am spending my day reading for the test I need to take this weekend in Christian History, and also the changes on the website as I building my first theme! It started off pretty rough, but it is slowly growing to look more Wikipedia-esque. I think it’s looking pretty darn super, but go ahead and leave a comment telling me what you think! I will admit it looks a TON better in firefox than in IE, but I have hope that it will work out.

Thats right folks. For those who thought it couldn’t be done, we once again prove that Windows XP can be installed on a Mac mini. Even as I type, we are modding our version of XP right now to make it more amazing than Microsoft could dream. Its pretty sick. Colin Chapman, DJ Glisson and I are burning the midnight oil making this dream come true.
And a good dream it is.

I was reading up on the Church of the Nazarene entries on wikipedia, and discovered that one Steve McCormick is listed as a “denominational theologian of note.” I am going to start paying more attention in class! That is so amazing that he is mentioned in Wikipedia. Well done, K Steve! Also mentioned is Thomas Jay Oord, who even has his own page on wikipedia!
In honor of Wikipedia, I am building my first WordPress theme! It imitates the clean Wikipedia appearance. Expect a beta to be released this week!

Today, during Walking Cult, it was demanded of us to come up with some explanation of “Geekiness.” This was in response to the 48 points I accumulated on MSNBC’s Geek Quiz .
First, people are considered “geeky” for multiple reasons. Having an avid interest in computers is the normal association. However, those who are overly fanatical concerning Star Wars are also considered geeky. We also thought of “Band Geeks.”  Lastly, those who know a lot about Math & Science would also be considered geeks.
We decided that it cannot simply be having lots of knowledge or experience in a given field. Those who know a lot of cars, for example, are not thought of as geeks. And those who excel in sports are considered the opposite of a geek.
In conclusion, it could be one of two things. 1) Avid knowledge or participation of something that is socially isolating, or 2) Whatever the bullies can’t do.

So my mom calls me on Saturday and before she even says hello I hear “Are you at Wal-mart?”
“Yes. I am, how did you know!?!?!”
Apparently, she just guessed, because I am always at Wal-mart. That was spooky. She told me that earlier in the day she had been doing some yardwork in a part of our yard along “the brook” that had not been maintained in… forever. While clear-cutting the debris she found, or course, a motorcycle. It had been there so long that trees had begun to grow in-between the spokes. It had 1999 plates on it, and the keys were still in the ignition! We immeditely agreed that this was some sort of Cold Case, and the story behind this may never come to light. The police came and said they would run the plates and see what comes up, but we haven’t heard anything yet.
Sunday was a fantastic day. Dave strolled into Church at 11:00 sharp, fresh off the plane from RENNSLAYER!!! (sp.) where he was visiting a grad school. Sans music, he nonchalantly mulled around the stage after we had already started playing, and sometime later he even joined in. Sherwin gave the message, and I was really impressed! He did a great job, and the message was awesome. Well done, amigo.
Darren came to Southwood on Sunday, and he came over afterwards for “The Best Chili in The World” (Darren R. Boyd Chili Awards, April, 2006). Matt Banner and Dave came also, so it was a really good time. Massive crock pot of Chili, cornbread, cinnamon rolls, and sitting around in our living room talking about electrical engineering. In the words of Tim Troxler, “Boo-Yah.”
This was followed by the traditional Nazarene Nap, where we sleep until 10 minutes before Small Group starts. The Dawsons could not make it again, and we are praying for them, as well as for all Seniors who are feeling the pressure of Senior Due Date. It was us and Andy and Brad, and we made english muffin pizzas and watched the rest of the 1st season of the Office, which we started at the last Small Group meeting.
