Open Source Rules

December 9th, 2005 No comments

I hope that someday I get a chance to contribute to open source software. I use it everyday – OpenOffice.org. Firefox. WordPress. My image gallery software. Linux. There are people out there that make this software work, and they do it for free. I appreciate that, and since I don’t have any money to give to them, it would be nice to contribute to the open source world. OK, thats all.

Snow Day for NPH!

December 8th, 2005 1 comment

Earlier I replied to an email concerning those who were going into work and those who were not, and some may have got the wrong impression. When I said “I’m going into work after classes” what I really meant was “NPH has cancelled work and I’m going to go home after classes.” I think that officially clears up any misunderstanding. I would like to point out that the driving today was a gazillion times better today than it was yesterday. Today it was actually nice out, and there was practically no one on the roads. It was really funny to see all the abandoned cars on the side of the highway, covered in 10 inches of snow.
For a little bit, I was actually reminded of Maine. I’ve never had to drive in this crazy kind of weather before, so that was hard, but it was really beautiful outside. I took some pics I will put up later.

Finals and Facebook

December 7th, 2005 5 comments

In that order. This is the last week of classes, and finals are next week! Needless to say, that is why I have not been posting a lot on here. And because I have been exploring my latest internet discovery of facebook.com. I am a huge fan. It connects you to classmates from college and even high school, so it has been awesome to see where my friends are at that I haven’t seen in five years. So if you are reading this and you do not have a facebook account, go do it right now! Julie and I went over to have dinner with Beth and Steve on the same day that I signed up for it, and after dinner Steve breaks out his iBook and says “Have you ever heard of facebook?” He ALSO had just signed up that day so we become facebook friends. It was great.
So I just have one more paper to write that is due today, and then I just need to study for finals!

A True Satellite

December 1st, 2005 8 comments

This post is brought to you via my Toshiba Satellite laptop through the NTS wireless network. It took $20 for a wireless card on ebay and about a week of chipping at Fedora Core 3 to get it working, but here I am! I am in the middle of Systematic Theology I so I should pay attention, but I just wanted to share my newfound joy with the world.
As you were.
